Weeks Falls
This is a beautiful spot along the South Fork of the Snoqualmie river, easily reached off I-90 passed North Bend. There’s a bunch of picnic tables in Olallie State Park and we enjoyed lunch in the sun before setting out along the trail, which leaves from the northeast end of the parking lot.
The trail to Weeks Falls runs right along the river with various side trails that take you down to the water (if you’re not in a wheelchair). There are also huge, old growth ceder trees along the way. Unfortunately the trail become inaccessible after a few hundred yards — a downed tree blocks the way, and even if you could get around it there start to be too many large roots to make it navigable by wheelchair.
Key stats:
Distance: It’s about .8 miles to Weeks Falls but only the first few hundred yards are wheelchair accessible.
Wheelchair accessible parking? Yes, in the first parking lot upon entering the park
Wheelchair accessible bathrooms? Yes
Trail condition? Hard-packed dirt with some rocks and roots along the way. Wide in most spots though there are also a few narrow sections. Trail becomes inaccessible at about .2 miles.
Highlights? The setting is spectacular, in the foothills of the North Cascades with great views and a gorgeous, flowing river. Take time to hang out in the park in the picnic tables by the river and soak it all in since the trail itself is pretty short.
