Myrtle Edwards Park
We walked/rolled the paved trail through Myrtle Edwards Park on a breezy early summer day. The clouds were beautiful and had we not gotten cold after a while we could have continued down the path for another mile or so to Elliot Bay Park on the south end.
We parked our van on Alaskan Way near the Olympic Sculpture Park and then walked north along the water, stopping at several places along the way to fly a kite.
Key stats:
Distance: The trail goes about 2.5 miles along Elliot Bay
Wheelchair accessible parking? Not at the South End. Only street parking. However, according to AllTrails.com, “There are 3 designated accessible spaces in the paved parking lot off of Alaskan Way West at the northwest end of the trail.”
Wheelchair accessible bathrooms? No
Trail condition? Paved the entire way, narrower in spots but in general a really nice trail to roll along in a wheelchair
Highlights? The views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains are spectacular. There are also lots of picnic tables and benches to rest or have a snack along the way. There is also some beach access — not wheelchair accessible of course but fun for our 6 year-old to explore while we flew kites nearby.
