North Creek Park Boardwalk
This walk was a lovely surprise – hidden not far off a major road outside Bothell, tucked behind rows of town houses, it still felt like an escape into nature. The boardwalk offered mostly views of the peat bog and grasslands, but those views felt unique and expansive. You might want to bring binoculars for birds.
We went during COVID and one downside of a boardwalk over marsh lands is that there is not a lot of space to distance. As long as we still need to, be sure to bring your mask.
Key stats:
Distance: We rolled about 0.75 miles one way, then back. The path continued, but unclear how far is accessible.
Wheelchair accessible parking? Yes; parking lot is paved.
Wheelchair accessible bathrooms? Unknown
Trail condition? Hard packed gravel for about 1/4 mile to the boardwalk, with some downhill grade, then flat boardwalk through the marsh. Boardwalk floats but felt sturdy and well secured. The boards are pretty even, but like any boardwalk it is a little bumpy.
Highlights? A lovely view of marshland in the middle of the burbs. There were a lot of people on a beautiful weekend. There are a few signs about the history of the place and information about peat bogs. There’s a big playground next to the parking lot (not very wheelchair accessible) and some accessible, covered picnic tables.
