Yesler Swamp

This is one of those trails that we wish we had found earlier. The Yesler Swamp boardwalk was completed in 2016 so maybe that’s part of why we hadn’t heard about it until recently. And it’s a pretty short walk so if you’re planning to be out exploring for longer than definitely visit the Union Bay Natural area as well.

You can access the Yesler Swamp trail at the east side of the Center for Urban Horticulture,

Key stats:

Distance: less than 1/2 mile

Wheelchair accessible parking? Yes (various spots in the UW Center for Urban Horticulture parking lot)

Wheelchair accessible bathrooms? Unknown

Trail condition? There’s about 50 yards of hard packed gravel to walk down before reaching the boardwalk. The boardwalk is only slightly bumpy.

Highlights? The view of Lake Washington from one of the rest areas along the boardwalk is wonderful, with possibilities for seeing birds and other wildlife.
