Gas Works Park

Gas Works Park has been around since the mid-70s when Seattle’s gasification plant was closed and turned into a park. It’s nearly 20 acres, scattered with paved trails and spectacular views of Lake Union.

Bring a kite for windy days!

Key stats:

Distance: maybe 1/2 mile of trails within the park; also connected the Burke Gilman trail which is paved and stretches over 12 miles.

Wheelchair accessible parking? Yes — Various wheelchair parking spots near the park entrance.

Wheelchair accessible bathrooms? No

Trail condition? Paved, narrow trails. Sections of the trail are quite steep. Some wider, hard-packed gravel trails as well.

Last time visited? July, 2020

Highlights? It takes some work pushing a wheelchair, but the vantage point at the top of the big hill in the center of the park is well worth the slog.
