Black River Riparian Forest (Interurban Trail)
This segment of the Interurban Trail opened in February, 2020 right before Covid took hold in Washington state. You can access it via Naches Ave SW which is right off Oaksdale Ave SW in south Renton. Naches Ave ends at a circle and you can park there and enter the trail.
Key stats:
Distance: We walked along about 1/2 mile segment of the trail from the entrance to the bridge right passed the Black River pump station. From there you could cross the main road and go through an industrial area to meet up with the Green River Trail, another segment of the 14-mile Interurban Trail that weaves through south King County.
Wheelchair accessible parking? No
Wheelchair accessible bathrooms? No
Trail condition? Newly paved, super smoth, wide, flat trail
Highlights? Lots of birds and not many people despite feeling rather urban. Not the most beautiful trail but Lucas said it was one of the smoothest he’s rolled in a while.
