Railroad Bridge Park (Olympic Discovery Trail)

The first time we rolled this trail with Lucas was in 2013 in the spring. We joined up with a bird watching group and went very slowly along the first 1/4 mile of the trail, marveling at the abundance and variety of birds under the cover of trees. Returning in 2020 in the middle of summer we traveled further on the trail and discovered that it gets really hot in the sun once you emerge from the trees.

Still, we walked about 1/2 mile, starting in the parking area, crossing the bridge over the Dungeness River, and continuing through the trees and then into the open, with views of the Olympics and Hurricane Ridge.
