Washington Park Arboretum Loop Trail

In 2018 the Washington Park Arboretum opened up a new paved trail loop and we are grateful! Although many of the other paths that weave through the Arboretum are wonderful — especially during certain times of year —  the gravel trails start to wear on the wheelchair user after a while. So having this new, wide, paved trail is a real treat. Just watch out for the bikers who sometimes cruise a little too fast along sections of the trail…

Key stats:

Distance: The trail is 2 miles long through the public garden. 1.2 miles opened in 2018, connecting to an existing section from Foster Island to Madison Street.

Wheelchair accessible parking? Yes

Wheelchair accessible bathrooms? Not sure

Trail condition? Very wide, paved trail. Relatively flat most of the way

Highlights? The Arboretum is one of the more spectacular places in the Seattle area to view trees and flowery, colorful plants like rhododendrons. So plan your trip well — either for the spring bloom or like the fall foliage.
